Every year, Brother's Day is a poignant reminder of the bond I share with my siblings. Today, I want to share a tribute not just to my two surviving sisters, but also to the memories of my three brothers and one sister who are no longer with us.
Being a brother means much more than sharing parents or having common childhood memories. It's about shared experiences, both joyful and painful, that help shape who we are. My sisters and I share a deep bond that has been forged and tested through unimaginable adversity.
We lost three brothers and one sister at a young age to a disease called Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA), a genetic disorder characterized by weakness and wasting in skeletal muscles. This is a loss that has left an indelible mark on our lives. However, through this profound shared experience, we have learned the importance of resilience, of cherishing each moment, and the invaluable support that siblings can provide in the face of adversity.
Today, I celebrate the strength, compassion, and unity of my family. I celebrate my two sisters, who despite the odds, continue to show me what courage and love truly mean. And I remember my brothers and sister who, though no longer with us, have left an enduring legacy in our hearts.
On this Brother's Day, let's celebrate not just the siblings who are with us, but also those who are present in our hearts and memories. Let's cherish the shared experiences, the highs and lows, the laughter and tears, that truly make us more than just siblings. Let's remember that every day is a gift and that the bonds of family are something truly special to be treasured.
Happy Brother's Day.
